Montaigut-le-Blanc - Auvergne
Pierre Beauger is a mythical creature with giant hands. Living and working in the highest vineyards of the Auvergne around Montaigut Le Blanc he creates wine that are unmistakably his. Becoming famous for his uncompromising Gamays and late harvest chardonnays he has since moved and planted his own vineyards renouncing those varieties in favour of Pinot noir, Syrah, Sauvignon blanc and Pinot Gris.
All work is manual; soil-work with his trusted ox, harvests surprisingly late. Producing whites that smell so exotic and tropical you could only imagine them to be sweet until you taste them and realise they are dry and complex and to be lingered over. And reds that are ethereal and delicate and drink terrifyingly quickly.
