Vincent wallard
Berrie - Loire
We have known the itinerant Vincent for many years, initially when he was in London setting up Terroirs in Charing Cross and then from his visits while he was making wine in Argentina with his Cuatro Manos project.
More recently he has been making wine in the Loire valley that is now his base. Buying grapes from organic growers around Puy Notre Dame and in farther afield Beaujolais he is making some truly wonderful wines. From complex, sappy Cabernets to elegant, graceful Chenin Blanc with vivacious Gamay for good measure.
Producer: Vincent Wallard
Region: Loire, France
Grapes: Chenin Blanc
Style: White
Alc.: 13.4%
Size: 75cl bottle
Notes: From Thibaut Stephan’s vines in Saumur, the grapes from both vintages are aged between 48 and 60 months in old large barrels. This is heady and oxidative from the long ageing, there’s some classic Chenin opulence with some salty brightness that makes you smack your lips!
