Summer 2025*:

FIZZ

Celler Tuets, Ancestral Moscatel d’Alexandria 2023 (Catalunya – Moscatel d’Alexandria)
Albert took over his family farm in Aiguamurcia, in the forested hills above Tarragona in 2012, and began making wine. His approach to winemaking is simple, unfussy, and produces delicious wines. This is a delicately aromatic and bright fizz, which is a great aperitif or picnic wine for the summer. Chill well and have a glass to hand as this can be quite fizzy!

WHITE & ORANGE

Jérôme Jouret, L’Ivraie 2023 (Ardèche – Ugni blanc, Carignan blanc, Roussanne, and many more…)
Jérôme and Stéphanie make such incredible wines: affordable; crowd-pleasing; and most importantly thoroughly delicious! L’Ivraie is now a blend of some older vines and younger vines that they planted about 8 years ago, including two hybrid varieties (Floreal and Voltis) which are more resistant to mildew. This is fresh, fruit forward, with a savoury and salty finish.

Mas Coutelou, Macabœuf #2 2022 (Languedoc – Macabeu)
Jean François Coutelou (Jeff for short) runs his family’s domaine in Puimisson a few kilometres from Béziers on France’s Mediterranean coast. The farm has been certified organic since 1987 and disturbed by the monoculture of modern farming Jeff has planted thousands of trees amongst his vineyards transforming the 20 hectares of the farm to 13 planted with vines and the rest with olives, figs, almonds, and fruit trees. This fruit comes from a small plot of Macabeu that Jeff macerates on the skins for 1 week and then ages in concrete eggs (hence the name). It is herbaceous, with warm sunny notes and some pithy tannins from the maceration.

PINK

Jambon & Tardieu, Une Tranche Rosée 2022 (Rhône – Carignan, Mourvèdre, Grenache noir, Cinsault)
Philippe Jambon has been making wines collaboratively with old friends and neighbours since about 2010, after a few disastrous vintages in his home of Beaujolais. He and Paul Tardieu (and his father Denis before him) have been making wine together for years, and this rosé is a lovely addition to their project. Full of summer fruits, with enough acidity to keep you coming back for more.

RED

Les Deux Terres, Jaja 2024 (Ardèche – Merlot, Cinsault, Grenache noir, Syrah)
We have received some new wines from Les Deux Terres just in time for the Summer, and we could not be more thrilled. Manu Cunin and Vincent Fargier, two friends and neighbours, farm a few hectares each in Villeneuve-de-Berg in Ardeche, and make delightful wines together. Jaja is always their youngest wine: a fresh carbonic maceration, brimming with crunchy fruit and definitely chillable. Potentially a contender for THE red wine of the Summer.

Malauva, Osarella 2022 (Umbria – Sangiovese)
Elisa Cortese and Giovanni Adua bought a small farm in the hills above Castel Giorgio in 2017 at the crossroads of Tuscany, Lazio and Umbria, on volcanic soils not far from Lago di Bolsena. They began to restore 6 hectares of vineyards and surrounding forest as well as the farm buildings. Osarella is from a single plot of Sangiovese, which undergoes a long maceration on the skins, but does not go into wood. The results are rich and bloody, with enough tannin to root you firmly in Umbria, but a lifted salty edge that stops it from being overwhelming. This is a joy.

*Wines subject to change.
