Belly Wine Experiment, Grisou 2021
Producer: Belly Wine Experiment
Region: Auvergne, France
Grapes: Pinot Gris (negociant)
Style: Orange, Sparkling
Alc: 14%
Size: 75cl bottle
Notes: A mix of direct press and lightly macerated grapes from friends in Alsace. This has a real richness to it but is balanced nicely by the spritz. Definitely on the savoury end of the spectrum and one for the table.

Chanteuges – Auvergne
Claire Sage, Guy Enoch, and Aimé Duveau make wine in a small village on the Allier river, and while they haven’t been doing it long we are very excited by the results. Claire and Aimé are both connected to wine through family: Claire’s brother is an importer of Catalan wines to Paris (which explains the prevalence of Xarello in their wines); Aimé’s father is Manu Duveau of Yahou Fatal, where they harvest the majority of their Auvergnat grapes. The winemaking is intuitive and, as the name would suggest, experimental.
