Notes: Late frost damage meant a lot of crop losses for Claire and Edo in 2024, and like the other wines borne of this vintage, La Pigné is a blend of their Chardonnay Muscaté, direct pressed; with whole bunches of Gamay d’Auvergne from a local grower. The blended wine then ages for 7 months in stoneware jars. This is wonderfully aromatic on the nose, with vibrant red currant and cranberry-like acidity and a salty refreshing quality on the finish.

Notes: 2024 was a tricky vintage for the Auvergne: Claire and Edo lost about 90% of their crop to late frost, and a decision was taken to blend direct pressed Chardonnay Muscaté juice with some Syrah and Cinsault that they purchased from a grower in Larzac. This is full of brambly fruit, with stalky-green herbal notes, ending with a lovely twang of moreish acidity.

Elevage is 12 months; 50% in a relatively new 500L Alsatian foudre, and 50% aged in old 228L barrels. This has some of that classic Pinot spice and more savoury notes, with soft tannins and some light fruit. This has great potential to age.

The parcel is dominated by red iron-oxide rich clay with decomposed granite, quartz and a limestone outcrop. 7-day whole bunch maceration in stainless steel. Some free-run juice is drawn off after a few days of fermentation to ‘keep the fruit bright’ in the wine. 9 months elevage in a mix of stainless steel tanks and 228L barrels. There’s a freshness to the fruit, and a definite saltiness, that helps balance the richness from the barrel ageing.

Notes: A field blend from one parcel, planted with a mix of red and white varieties. The aging and fermentation is flipped around in this vintage – fermentation happens in old 225L barrels, while the wine age for 6 months in stainless steel. This is the biggest of Nacho’s wines that we received in this vintage; dense fruit, inky, smooth tannin, and a deep finish.
